Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin glass-like layers that are bonded to the front surfaces of teeth to change and enhance tooth appearance, and in some cases, to protect the teeth. When bonded to the teeth, they are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. For strength and appearance, their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options.

Veneers require the patient to maintain excellent oral hygiene in order to be successful, so the dentist will have to closely evaluate your teeth and existing dental work to determine if veneers are a good option for you.

Veneers typically require 2-3 visits to the office.

First visit:

This first appointment will be a consultation where impressions are taken of the teeth. At this visit you and the dentist will discuss what you can expect as a final results. This is achieved by planning the exact shape, size and shade of the final veneers.

Second visit:

The teeth surfaces will be prepared by removing a very thin layer of enamel. Afterward, a final impression is taken and sent to a dental laboratory for veneer fabrication. The prepared teeth are protected, in the interim, with a temporary material.

Third visit:

The dentist will remove the temporary covers and perform a try-in of the delicate veneers directly on the patients’ teeth. If everything is satisfactory, the dentist will then prepare the teeth surfaces for bonding, then cement the permanent veneers in to place.
